In some menus, there's a scrolling text window. With a modern system, pop-in is greatly minimized and it was never that serious.ģ. It's not bad, but when you get into a new area, the tweaking on the Unreal engine is to get you in faster with lower res textures and then replace them- as might make sense on a 360 but makes a little less sense on a PC. Realize that if you go out to 90 degrees that it will make running do a "fisheye" effect as it goes beyond 90 degrees for running.Ģ. This isn't something that commits permanently though, so you have to have it set to change once/game. They are, however, tweakable by INI file. However, before you go "aargh console" when you run the FOV automatically spreads out and you run much of the time when you're not zooming in on enemies to kill them so the FOV problems are much less severe than some games. FOV is, yes, generally set to 75 degrees. Matchmaking should work fine now, but it's all through GameSpy and not some other better tool.ġ. There's really only one concern, and that's matchmaking. Point 0: Even if truly "consolized" there's nothing that would not make this game insanely fun on the PC. You've been generally misinformed, but in case any specific thing does bother you, here are the fixes.
I know the pc version suffered from some fairly serious "consolitis" when it was first release (UI problems, mouse control issues, bad FOV settings, etc.) was this ever corrected in the patches? If not are there any recommend mods that make for a better pc experience? Or any interesting fun mods in general?
Same goes for the mouse control, seemed fine to me but is configurable anyway. If it is an issue for you, there is an extensive configuration file (UT3 engine) that I am pretty sure will let you modify this. I never tried any mods, but about the PC version in general:
